The new research lab located on Annenberg Library’s 11th floor was designed to encourage global collaboration between researchers of AI capabilities across the Mount Sinai Health System. With a mission to create an “AI intelligent fabric,” this department will train the next generation of health care computer scientists. Our design provides research suites for group collaboration, as well as acoustically isolated stations and enclosed offices for deliberate focus. Our design also provides an elegant entry area that leads to a light filled central space with all other functions efficiently organized around the perimeter. The open area at the lab’s core will serve as an informal gathering space for both in-person and virtual presentations by staff and visitors.
