The combination of three units on multiple floors created a 4,980 SF residence within this Landmark building located on the Upper East Side. We designed the residence within the uppermost floors of the renowned Warburg Mansion, built in 1908, and provided a carefully planned structural opening for the new stairs. A contemporary architectural palette is achieved through meticulous and elegant detailing that interacts with interiors by Saffron Case. The stair welcomes you upon entry and is a portal for natural light filling interior spaces and highlighting artwork throughout. Work included the gut renovation of two full floors, all bathrooms, new windows, a wine cave and three levels of interconnected family areas.
In coordinating the combination, the design team was able to design zones that encouraged social interaction and active family areas, while discreetly providing quiet sleeping areas with more intimate access to bathroom and closets. The new apartment highlights access to natural light through large skylights and indirect light that floors the various interior spaces of this growing family.
