The historic studios at NYCC are ideal places for dance, music and theater. Studio 3 had not been renovated since the early 1980’s and MAD was retained to upgrade its layout, finishes and technology. This studio also serves the dual purpose of being the boardroom for NYCC leadership gatherings and this function was carefully integrated into the planning of the renovation. The gut renovation of the Studio included full acoustical upgrades in conjunction with carefully strategized MEP/AV systems integration. The Studio’s lighting is designed for typical daily rehearsal use, while also adaptable to large format meetings including video presentations. The dressing room areas were reconfigured to be discretely accessible and now have new restrooms and showers available to all Studio users. Scope included fabric covered operable wall panels offering flexible acoustics and elegance to Studio 3. Our team lead the renovation team that included Charcoal Blue and Polise Engineers in reinterpreting this key facility at New York City Center.
